Fear, Covid-19 and the Crocodile…

I do not profess to be a prophet and neither do I say “Thus says the Lord”, but I do know one thing: I do have dreams, I do see visions, and I do know they do have meanings. I always make it applicable to my own life first. If this is meaningful to you, then I praise God.

I had a vivid dream two nights ago. There was a river on my left side and I was on a narrow road right next to it. It seemed there was some kind of barrier between me and the river (almost like rails on a bridge), but it was solid . To me it seems it was to protect people from falling into the river. In the beginning of this road there was a sign. It said:”DO NOT STOP IF YOU SEE ANIMALS IN THE WATER“! To me it was strange, because in the dream I thought I was in a wild park, and the idea WAS to stop when I would see animals, because I would want to take pictures of them. (If you know me, I am a lover of especially the Kruger National Park in South Africa, and I will drive backwards and forward to see the tiniest bird, not to mention a huge crocodile or Hippo in the water!) Anyway, suddenly I saw from the corner of my eye the head of a CROCODILE! I stopped immediately and backed up to see more clearly, I actually bent over to look closer! Then I called my Dad who was behind me and also my friend and another person to come check out the crocodile. As they were walking closer to me, suddenly this crocodile leaped out of the water UNEXPECTEDLY and it actually crossed that barrier! It came so close to me, we actually touched. His nose touched my hands. I could smell and feel the danger, and I knew I had to run for my life if I did not want to die. This was a very close encounter. I kept thinking how I disobeyed the warning sign and it almost cost me my life and the life of others. This was the dream.

Here is a picture of the scene I drew in my journal, just to give you an idea. (I am not a great artist!)

When I woke up, I knew it was not just a dream. It had a meaning. I was immediately convicted about my behavior… in the dream and in general. I can be very stubborn – especially when I go to wild parks. In my eagerness to see animals I often take some crazy chances to see animals closer and it not only put me in danger, but those who are with me. So I repented before the Lord for the times I did that. But I also realized this dream was very applicable to other situations in my life and specifically the situation with Covid-19 right now. I am so done with this virus! Again, please, I am making my observations applicable to my own life and not trying to tell you what is true in your own life.

A little bit about crocodiles, just so you know. They kill more people in Africa than lions. The crocodile’s head can deliver sledgehammer blows forward and sideways. It’s hind feet and tail can propel it out of the water at great speed. Job 41:25 says “When he raises himself up the mighty are afraid at the crashing, they are beside themselves.” The crocodile’s teeth can crush or sever limbs or grasp the victim while literally shaking him apart. “In his neck abides strength” (Job 41:22) and “Round about his teeth is terror “. (Job 41:14) “His heart is hard as a stone, hard as the nether millstone” (Job 41:21). The idea of a “hard heart” or “hardness of heart” is a biblical figure of speech and denotes the quality being without pity or being persistently stubborn in doing evil. If a crocodile gets hold of you, that’s exactly how it will behave! Also, crocodiles represent fear and chaos in a spiritual context in many ways. (I got most of this paragraph from researching google, and from the Bible, so it’s not my own words)

In pondering the dream I certainly felt convicted about some areas in my own life which God was pointing out and how He wanted me to see it. I will write them out.

  1. I need to pay attention to warning signs – literally and figuratively
  2. Repent of my own stubborn ways and of doing things my way (Yes, yes yes – is all I can say right now!)
  3. The enemy may look far away, but he is ready and lurking to not only destroy me, but others too.
  4. Be careful how I walk and conducting myself – my example may influence others for the worse (The Bible says “bad company corrupt good morals” and I also remember how the Bible talks about “woe to those who mislead or cause anybody to stumble”. I had to repent for the dream and how I actually called people to come and have a look at the crocodile, putting them in danger! Oh boy!)
  5. Barriers are good, it’s for my protection (I think this means I need to read the word and not reports from the world)

Some other thoughts that crossed my mind…this could be my own thoughts or perhaps it is God speaking, you discern for yourself.

“Covid-19 is like the crocodile – instilling great fear in people. It’s been laying and waiting for the next person to kill, steal and destroy. Many are looking at it constantly. It has already grabbed them, it is shaking them around, they are in his teeth. Fear grabbed them and this is a root cause for many other behaviors. This is unfortunate but I don’t want you to get into that same place. You actually have. Stop looking or paying attention to it. Take your eyes of it. That’s why the sign said “Do not stop if you see animals in the water!” The idea was that you first enjoy nature all around you, and look onto the narrow road and follow Me. The sign was a test to see what is in your heart, also a test you to see if you would obey the warning.”

This virus/crocodile has grabbed many people. With its characteristics of having a hard heart, it does not care who it grabs and who it devours. It has created much terror in hearts. That’s just how fear works. It’s a bad root which will bear bad fruit. And now they tell others from that place of fear and it has a snowball affect. That’s why the sign said: “Do not stop if you see animals in the water!

(I think by repeating the phrase about the sign, must be something I need to hear or pay attention to! Hearing things over and over will hopefully make it so sink in! LOL!)

A few days ago I woke up in the middle of the night with these words going through my mind “Pray for the world!” I am a person of prayer and I do pray a lot, but I felt it was to pray for people who have been gripped by this crocodile and who are in his teeth. They experience fear and chaos. People won’t listen. Our battle is not is not against flesh and blood, so we fight this on our knees, not on social media. (I am not saying all social media is bad!) I personally have been getting so tired of watching the internet and social media about the virus (crocodile). I felt in my heart that I too have caved in (the dream showed that!) I too was listening and sharing some videos and ideas and even false reports (which I thought was true) with others. I participated in the hype and in the process tried to influence others as well. The dream to me was not only a warning that I must stop, ( I am not saying we should not share the truth) but that I must stop looking at the virus, and turn to keep my eyes on Jesus who is leading me on the narrow path. He is giving us such a great opportunity right now to be alone and quiet and seek after His presence more than ever. Unfortunately in this, I find it hard to be still , my brain goes all over the place. What about yours? Too much distractions still! I know I am on the narrow path, but I am still looking around and not obeying the warning signs. And by the way, a narrow road can have curves and roadblocks and unless my eyes are fixed on Him at all times, distractions (the animals in the water) will influence me, and this may cause me…and others to die. The dream was also to help me to think differently. God says “My ways are not your ways. Your thoughts are not My thoughts. You found it strange to see and obey the sign. Much have changed and now is the time to sit with Me, so I can help you forward. Do not turn back. Do not turn back ever! Learn from the dream. I want you to stay alive and I want this for those in your sphere of influence too. Pray for the world and write down what I speak to you.”

And so I just did. It was so helpful for myself first. My ears needed to hear all of that. And trust me, I am praying more than ever!

This crocodile …I think the dream has changed my mind in many ways. Thank you Jesus for pointing out things in my own heart. I see and think differently already, not only about the current virus situation, but the solution forward. Going ahead, my eyes fixed on Him, reading His Word and let it guide me not and not allowing the crocodile who distracts and who waits to kill steal and destroy.

Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you,Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset—rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.11 To Him be the dominion (power, authority, rule) forever and ever. Amen (so be it). (1 Pet 5:6-11 AMPC)

Suddenly this crocodile has diminished. It’s gone back into the water and I pray you enjoyed and was encouraged by what I wrote today. Pay attention to warning signs and “Don’t stop when you see animals in the water!” I won’t either with the help of God! Please share with others if you like. Blessings, Wilna

Look, listen and pay attention!

My own puppies: Meisie, Daisy (she died a few months ago) and Thursdae. They are attentively paying attention! Let’s do the same!
