Watchmen, sound the alarm.

Friends, I have something on my heart. You may or may not like it. Please know that my intent is not to offend, but to share a concern!

I WORRY! Yes, I worry. About the church. I worry about the Body of Christ! I worry how so many Christians today will not only approve and applaud many unbiblical lifestyles and behaviors, but many are living unbiblical, scandalous lives themselves! I worry about our witness for Christ, and how the world look at us – shaking their heads!

Right has become wrong. Wrong has become right – which, by the way, is predicted in the Bible! However, I worry when I hear how many churches today will adapt worldly views and patterns. How they accommodate culture and compromise the truth from God’s word!

Just recently, I received the shocking news of how the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) in South Africa has also made such a compromise; when they approved same-sex marriage and now ordain ministers who actively live the gay lifestyle! I grew up in this denomination, and am deeply disappointed in this decision! (I know this will offend some of you – please read on!)

I worry, because I know this compromise will not strengthen the DRC, but it will weaken it, as it has done with many other churches who have already made such a compromise! The reality is this: compromise will not unify, it will divide. This issue of same-sex marriage has become the number one dividing factor in churches around the globe!

The reality is this: compromise will not unify, it will divide.

SurpriseI worry, when I hear how entire denominations will change their stance on immoral lifestyles, and discard God’s word in the process. However, I do applaud those who acknowledge and repent of the wrong they have been doing for decades – for not loving and accepting those who struggle with sexual identity, especially members of the LGBTQ community!

It is time we make what was wrong, right! But I worry. Churches today don’t understand that loving and accepting a person while not approving of any unbiblical lifestyle or behavior is possible. We are called to love; and to love unconditionally. To love the way Jesus does! He loves and accepts, but He never compromises His holiness! Why do we?

I applaud those who acknowledge and repent of the wrong they have been doing for decades – for not loving and accepting those who struggle with sexual identity, especially members of the LGBTQ community!

Why are we afraid to stand for the truth? Why do we lean towards compromise? This is what worries me.

When I say “I WORRY”… I am not pointing fingers. I am concerned. True Christ-followers are not called to applaud or approve any unbiblical behaviors. We are called to live above reproach, to represent Christ well. We are also called to act as watchmen on the walls, we are required to warn others when there is danger.

But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, he is taken away because of his corruption and sin; but I will require his blood from the watchman’s hand. (Ezek 33:6)

God is going to hold us (True Christ followers) accountable one day for the words we have spoken. Have we spoken the truth or have we remained silent? It is our duty to warn; in love! This is the intent of this post: There is danger – and the danger is in compromising God’s Word! This is why I worry.

Does this worry you too? If it does, then let us not allow our worries to consume us, but let us pray! Let us start by humbling ourselves, because: “If my people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear them from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 (AMP)

Will you please join me – not in worry, but in prayer?

Lord, raise us up! We choose not to worry, but we will war in prayer! To war for the Truth, and to not compromise!
